My name’s Philip, and I created leadership-toolbox in hopes to share a little, learn a little, and give aspiring leaders the tools they need to succeed.
Leadership has been around me my whole life, but it took me a while to realize it.
In college, I majored in philosophy, where I focused on epistemology, or the philosophy of thought. Learning about thought taught me to look at different types of thinkers differently, and the dynamic of leadership always appealed to me; there is always something a little different about a talented leader. Studying how people think showed me how much control we have over the dynamics of the mind –a great skill for leaders to develop.
After taking some leadership roles myself, I did a little work in organizational development, where I got to study leadership from an outside perspective. What I learned was that even though leadership is this intangible thing that we are all drawn to, there is still a science to it. Sure, it is part talent, part art and a little bit of experience, but with study people can improve. That’s a powerful realization.
From those experiences came the idea to create this website. I want it to be a forum for all the science, art and inspiration that can make anyone into a great leader.
It doesn’t matter if you need to speak up in the boardroom or the living room, being a leader can help you and those around you thrive.
I want to be able to offer all the different components that mark good leadership, so some of my articles may seem academic and some are a bit metaphorical. But they are both part of the puzzle, and I hope the mix offers something for everyone.
I hope that you will be a part of this process and share the joy of teaching leadership with me. If you have any ideas, comments or questions you would like me to address, please visit my contact page and drop me a line.
Thanks for coming, and happy leading!Philip
